Shida Leni

Growing up in war-torn Arua, Northern Uganda, 400m runners Shida Leni has little access to the resources she needed to develop in her sport. From a childhood spent selling mats on the streets of Arua, Shida won a place at university, before going on to represent Uganda at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. With the support of the Athlete Program, Shida was able to travel to the events that would win her a place in Tokyo2020, achieving her unlikely dream of becoming an Olympian.
